TNA Umpire Development Program
Supporting Growth and Excellence in Umpiring
The TNA Junior Umpire Development Program (UDP) is designed to nurture, educate, and advance umpires at all levels. Our aim is to equip umpires with the skills, confidence, and knowledge required to officiate matches effectively and correctly.

The Program document provides the necessary information to understand the redesigned Program, Framework, Pathway and Progression for the TNA UDP and is based on the three P’s which are:

PATHWAYS to development; and

PROGRESSION of development.

Program Objectives
-
Provide comprehensive training in the Netball Australia Rules and on field decision making.

Encourage ongoing learning through practical assessments, feedback sessions, and mentorship.

Promote a culture of respect, fairness, and leadership among umpires.

Support career progression with pathways from grassroots to elite competitions.
Key Components
-
Induction Workshops: TNA will be running a number of introductory and advanced sessions covering the fundamentals of umpiring and sport-specific regulations through to more elite level umpiring.

Practical Training: On-court coaching and in match situations to develop confidence and competence.

Mentoring: Pairing new umpires with experienced officials for guidance and support throughout the trainee’s development process.

Assessment & Accreditation: Regular (depending on the needs of the trainee) evaluations and opportunities to achieve recognised umpiring qualifications.
